Just something to read

Tomorrow

If I were to die tomorrow
and leave you here today
would you be mad and angry
or wish you had something to say?

If I were to die tomorrow
and not even say good bye
would you let me go in peace
or question god with why?

If I were to die tomorrow
and you didn't see me here
would you think of something better
or say "good-bye my dear"?

If I were to die tomorrow
and smile at you tonight
would you look away with wonder
or come closer and hold me tight?

If I were to die tomorrow
and didn't say one word
would you wish for something better
or not believe what you heard?

If I were to die tomorrow
I'll tell you this today
forgive me now, as I'm forgiving you
On all the angry things we did say

If I were to die tomorrow
I want you to be aware
I love you all so dearly
and I will always care

Literature: Madness or Insight
By Angeline Pitawanakwat

For as long as I can remember, books have always been within my reach. Books of all shapes and sizes; picture books, pop-up books, and the books (which I thought were sumptuous) that my parents seemed to possess profoundly. This I reckon, had a profound effect on why I’m in love with books today.

I realize that is what my parents intended for me; to show that there is not only this world we live in, but a whole new one in each and every book. And through each journey these books can take us, we can gain knowledge, and a sense of fulfillment.

I’m infatuated with books for many reasons. I can’t get enough of learning, that is, about the subjects that interest me. Let it be philosophy or true crime, you can learn something new in just about every written work. If not in the book itself, maybe you discover a hint of something new about the author. Or when I come upon a word that’s unknown to me and find out its meaning, it gives me a slight feeling of cleverness. The information provided in books can blow someone’s mind - literally.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve come to know some authors that I just can’t get enough of. These authors just happen to be deceased, and I’ve spent countless hours thinking about them. I wonder what was going on in their time to bring about such wicked thoughts. And I imagine how incredibly intelligent these people were, and it gives me strength to think that I could be just as intelligent as they were. For example Aldous Huxley, who wrote ‘Brave New World’ in 1931. What amazes me in that story is how he predicted a future that he thought could possibly come true - in six-hundred years. Little did he know, it would be less than a century that almost all of his ‘predictions’ would come true. I’m amazed at such author’s like Huxley, whose train of thought is so grand. The only way we can share the prodigy’s vision today, is through their words.

Their words make me hungry for more books. Their words make me curious and force me into a different realm. And from these words, words from Huxley and others, I continue my quest for knowledge and insight into the human psyche.

And that keeps me hunting for more literature.

An Ode to the Broken
By Maigan Ashley Joey Fox

If only they could realize,
If only they could tell...
But what difference would it make
The damage already fell

The stories that were heard,
The stories that were told...
That burdened upon her shoulders
The ones that left her cold

Her wish of nothing better,
Her wish of nothing less...
could only leave her broken
Rather than being with the mess

The wonders that came to her,
The wonders that came to be...
Little did she know
There was nothing she could see

The emptiness that lasted,
The emptiness that died...
She couldn't bare the most
Of everything, she cried

The useless information they told her,
The useless information they carried...
Would leave her down and broken
Of all the things she barried

What little would it bring,
What little would it do...
The hurt that was brought upon her
Is because of you

She wouldn't ask for this,
She wouldn't ask for more...
This is all too much
From what she had before

 They couldn't be that certain,
They couldn't be that smart...
When they kept trying
They grew further and further apart

Now its all over,
Now its all ended...
Its the people they have
The ones they befriended

If only they could realize,
If only they could see...
An Ode to the Broken
The ones that have to be

For those that haven't been,
For those that haven't spoken...
There is only time to heal
An Ode to the Broken

Memories

In a far away ocean
I stand so tall
My appearance maybe gone
But my heart is in you all
The memories you hold
When we were together
You held me so close
In your hearts I am forever
My love is still here
Even though I'm not there
But I stand inside your hearts
And I whisper through the air

In loving memory of Ziigwanibiik
